Job summary

OC Sports & Entertainment, LLC in Orange County is seeking a Firewall Administrator to design, deploy, and maintain Fortinet security for the organization's network. This on-site role covers policy creation, VPNs, IPS, and traffic monitoring to protect critical systems.

You will join IT with responsibilities including multi-site deployments, security operations, firmware updates, SOPs, and coordination with network engineers. Travel to local Southern California sites is expected.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience in network administration, network security, firewall administration, or related IT infrastructure support.
• Hands-on experience configuring FortiGate firewalls, VPNs, firewall policies, routing, IPS/IDS, and web filtering.
• Experience with FortiManager, SIEM tools, Extreme Networks switches, or cloud security tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Firewall Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain FortiGate firewalls, including policy rules, routing, and high availability
• Multi-site Management: firewall deployment for site-to-site VPN connections, ongoing management, performance monitoring
• Security Operations:Monitor network traffic for threats, respond to security incidents, manage IPS/IDS, and implement web/application filtering
• VPN Management:Set up and troubleshoot site-to-site and remote access VPNs (IPsec, SSL)
• Network Performance:Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize traffic flow
• Documentation & Compliance:Maintain detailed documentation, create standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensure compliance with security standards
• Site visits: would require traveling to local sites to replace faulty hardware, install new units, troubleshoot any issues; all sites are in Southern California

Pay Details:

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $108,000 to $135,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

A FortiGate Firewall Administratorconfigures, manages, and maintains Fortinet security devices, focusing on firewall policies, VPNs, intrusion prevention (IPS), and traffic monitoring to protect networks from threats, involving daily troubleshooting, firmware updates, security incident response, performance tuning, and detailed documentation for a secure IT environment. Key tasks include policy creation, threat detection, system health checks, collaboration with IT teams, and continuous learning about emerging cyber threats, often leveraging FortiManager for centralized control.This would be an on-site position.

• Collaboration:Work with network engineers, security analysts, and other IT staff on security initiatives and projects
• Updates & Upgrades:Perform firmware updates, hardware refreshes, and manage security patches
• Site visits: would require traveling to local sites to replace faulty hardware, install new units, troubleshoot any issues; all sites are in Southern California

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Administration, or a related field preferred
• 3–5+ years of experience in network administration, network security, firewall administration, or related IT infrastructure support
• Hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting FortiGate firewalls, VPNs, firewall policies, routing, IPS/IDS, web filtering, and related security features
• Experience supporting multi-site network environments, including site-to-site VPNs, hardware replacements, performance monitoring, and local site troubleshooting
• Experience with FortiManager, SIEM tools, Extreme Networks switch hardware, or cloud security tools preferred
• Experience with Extreme Networks switch hardware is a plus
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, TCP/IP, routing, and security frameworks
• Proficiency with FortiGate features: Policies, VPN, Proxy, UTM (Antivirus, Web Filtering, App Control, IPS)
• Familiarity with cloud security (AWS/Azure WAF) is a plus
• Knowledge of SIEM tools and threat intelligence
