Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Florida Paramedic certification.
• Firefighter II certification within one year.
• ACLS and BLS/CPR certifications.
• Florida EVOC defensive driving course.
• Approved by EMS Medical Director to practice as Paramedic.
• No substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Responds to fire and EMS calls and performs fire suppression and EMS duties.
• Rescues and removes persons from danger.
• Operates fire/EMS apparatus to deliver ALS.
• Ventilates burning buildings to eject smoke and heat.
• Performs salvage and overhaul at fire scenes.
• Completes written reports (fire, patient, daily logs).
• Maintains equipment and station cleanliness.
• Provides public education and pre-fire planning.
