Job summary

Forest Park Fire Department currently has immediate openings for firefighter/paramedics. Applicants must hold a valid paramedic license issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health at the time of conditional offer. A CPAT with Ladder Climb is required and must be valid at hire.

US citizenship, age 21–34, and a valid driver’s license are also required. Only applicants meeting these criteria should apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid paramedic license issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health at time of conditional offer.
• CPAT card with Ladder Climb required with application and valid at time of hire.
• US citizenship and age 21–34 at written exam; date of birth proof required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Respond as firefighter/paramedic with Forest Park Fire Department.
• Commit to a staffing rotation of four ambulance shifts per month.
• Maintain required licenses and pass medical, drug, background, and psych evaluations.
• Apply through on-going, rolling process with $25 application fee.

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Forest Park, Illinois is accepting appointment(s) to the position of firefighter/paramedic with the Forest Park Fire Department.

Staffing rotation - only 4 shifts a month on the ambulance!!

• At least 21 years of age and under 34 years of age at time of written examination, except per Illinois Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6. Proof of date of birth is required
• U.S. Citizenship
• No felony convictions
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record
• Possess a valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health - (IDPH) (at time of offer of conditional employment; EMT-P license -OR- proof of enrollment in Paramedic program must be submitted with application)
• Present a valid CPAT card with Ladder Climb with your application with an issue date within 12 months of the date of the application -AND- CPAT card must also be valid at time of hire
• Participate in remote on-line written exam testing. Must successfully pass the written examination with a score of 70% or better
• Must successfully complete an oral interview, background investigation, medical examination, drug testing, polygraph, and psychological examination
• Applications are being accepted on an on-going, rolling basis and will be reviewed monthly
• Pay a $25.00 non-refundable application processing fee

Preference Points will be awarded by the Village of Forest Park and will follow the Illinois Firefighter Hiring Act.
