Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License

• Must be under 35 years of age at application deadline unless exempt under 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Fluent English language skills
• No felony convictions with good moral character per 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6
• Illinois residence required within 6 months of probation completion.
• Must be a certified Paramedic (EMT-P) licensed to practice in Illinois OR an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) currently enrolled in a certified paramedic class.
• Possess an OSFM Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter Certificate OR a certificate of completion for Basic Operations Firefighter from the Illinois Fire Service Institute, Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA), Romeoville Fire Academy, or an Illinois Community College that offers a Basic Operation Firefighter program OR equivalent of NFPA Firefighter I (out of state applicants) at time of application.
• Must have a candidate physical ability test (CPAT) card with Ladder test at conditional offer of employment.
