Job summary

The City of Augusta is seeking a dedicated Firefighter I to join its frontline team in Kansas. You will respond to alarms, perform fire suppression and basic EMS care, and work on rescue operations under strict safety protocols.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 18+ years old, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass fitness and medical exams. Preferred candidates may have EMT certification and experience with hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive physical fitness test and medical examination.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire alarms and emergency calls promptly and efficiently.
• Perform fire suppression activities including operating hoses, pumps, and equipment.
• Conduct search and rescue operations to locate and assist victims.
• Provide basic emergency medical care and support at the scene.
• Maintain and inspect firefighting equipment and apparatus for readiness.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance firefighting and medical skills.
• Follow safety protocols and departmental guidelines to minimize risk.
• Engage in public education and fire prevention activities.
