Job summary

The Eau Claire, City of (WI) Fire Department is seeking responsible and courageous individuals for Firefighter openings and an eligibility list, including lateral transfers. Primary duties cover fire suppression, EMS, disaster response, fire prevention, and public education.

Applicants must have a High School diploma, valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, US citizenship, be at least 18, possess CPAT, and EMT/Paramedic certifications with department training plans.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License within 30 days.
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED, etc.).
• Must be either Nationally Registered or State of Wisconsin EMT certified and Fire Fighter I certified, OR be Nationally Registered or State of Wisconsin Paramedic certified with training within 1 year.
• Must be a United States citizen and at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid CPAT certification at time of hire.
• Maintain Wisconsin EMT license.

Responsibilities

• Responds to EMS calls and provides pre-hospital care.
• Responds to fire calls and assists in extinguishing fires and rescue operations.
• Inspects buildings for fire hazards and ensures compliance with codes.
• Maintains equipment, stations, and gear.
• Participates in training to maintain and improve firefighting skills.
• Engages in fire prevention and public education activities.
• Wear respiratory protection and participate in drills and life-safety activities.
