Job summary

Summit Fire & Security is seeking a Lead Technician for installation, inspection, and repair of pre-engineered suppression systems and related detection & control systems. You will read schematics, train new hires, and support occasional after-hours work.

Required certifications include ICC/NAFED, FEX1 or E-4, and manufacturer credentials. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel 90% are essential; sign-on bonus up to $2,000 offered.

Qualifications

• 2 Fire Life Safety Industry experience specifically within Fire Suppression.
• Experience reading schematics and training new hires is preferred.
• Must have valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, service and repair pre-engineered suppression systems and associated detection & control systems.
• Read and interpret NFPA codes and standards applicable to systems.
• Troubleshoot components and replace defective parts in suppression and detection systems.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams professionally.
• Maintain safety documentation and participate in safety activities.
• Complete work orders using Field Service Lightning and document results.

Job description

Specific to this role: Lead Technician experienced in the inspection, repair, and installation of Pre-Engineered Suppression Systems and associated Detection & Control Systems. Must be able to read schematics, train new hires, and support occasional after-hours work. ICC/NAFED, FEX1, or E-4 certifications, manufacturer training credentials, and experience with pipe threading and piping installation are required. Up to $2,000 Sign-On Bonus.

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of the Fire Suppression Technician is to provide installation, inspection, service and/or repair of Fire Extinguishers, Emergency Exit Lights and/or any Pre-Engineered Suppression Systems including any associated Detection & Control Systems with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Use required tools and test equipment such as power machines groovers, cutters, band saw, lifts, etc. to repair or replace fire extinguishers, pre-engineered systems, and/or Detection & Control systems components.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of NFPA codes, standards, and systems such as all types of fire extinguishers, pre-engineered suppression systems and/or Detection & Control systems.
• Troubleshoot and identify defective components of pre-engineered suppression systems.
• Repair or replace damaged components of pre-engineered suppression systems as well as fire extinguishers and/or Detection & Control systems.
• Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
• Required to be punctual to required work locations and complete scheduled projects in timely manner.
• Use Field Service Lightning to track work orders, materials needed, time on job, etc.
• Complete documentation on work orders.
• Understand and follow SFS's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures. Participate in weekly Toolbox talks. Employee must always know location all related safety documentation on each project.
• Ensure company provided vehicle is clean and well maintained as required by company policies.
• Periodically attend seminars or similar education/training sessions to stay abreast of latest technology, codes, and standards changes.
• Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications.

Education, Training, Certifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• State or any required certification, preferred.

Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:

• 2 Fire Life Safety Industry experience specifically within Fire Suppression.
• 2 years of professional computer skills.

Communication Skills:

• Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.

Other Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
• Must be able to comply with SFS's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.
• Must be able to travel 90% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift <50lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Employee will occasional be required to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift >50lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.

Work Environment:

Employees will regularly be required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise. Employee will occasionally be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others. Employee must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.
