Job summary

State Fire is seeking a Fire Suppression Technician to inspect, maintain, and service heavy equipment fire suppression systems, primarily in the mining industry. Experience is preferred, but we’re willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates aptitude and a desire to build a career in fire protection.

You will travel regionally, work with a collaborative team, and support installation and service of dry chemical and clean agent systems while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and battery-operated tools.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
• Basic computer skills and comfort using mobile applications.
• Customer service mindset with clear communication skills.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and on-call when needed.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Experience with mining vehicle fire suppression systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and service dry chemical, clean agent, and special hazard fire suppression systems.
• Inspect and replace fire suppression tanks, cartridges, and control unit batteries.
• Perform semi-annual system maintenance, including checking hoses, discharge lines, nozzles, and detection loops.
• Maintain data logs and control unit information
• Conduct electronic and manual actuator testing to ensure proper functionality
• Travel regionally, with overnight stays required (up to a week at a time)
• Communicate daily with site planners and use company time-tracking and field service apps

Physical Requirements
