Total Fire Protection in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a sprinkler fitter to perform layout, assembly, installation, and testing of fire sprinkler systems per NFPA. You will coordinate with project managers and construction teams to ensure precise placement and timely inspections across rough-in and final checks.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintenance, and documenting work while coordinating with trades to integrate systems on new construction sites.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Forklift and lift equipment operation experience.
• Pre-employment drug screening will be performed.
• Certification such as NFPA 13, NICET, or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Minimum 4+ years' experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems.
• Familiarity with steel and CPVC pipe and various sprinkler types.
• Strong verbal and written communication for team/client coordination.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve emergency sprinkler issues quickly.

Responsibilities

• Execute layout, assembly, installation, and testing of fire sprinkler systems per project specs and NFPA.
• Collaborate with project managers and construction teams for accurate sprinkler placement.
• Coordinate scheduling of rough-in and final inspections.
• Perform regular inspections and address issues with local inspectors.
• Maintain and service fire sprinkler systems to meet codes.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in valves, pipes, and components.
• Respond to emergency repair calls to minimize downtime.
• Ensure installations meet regulatory standards and document all work.
• Coordinate with plumbers, electricians, and general contractors to integrate systems.
• Mentor apprentices on daily tasks.
