Proficient with tools such as saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threaders, lifts, ladders.
Adherence to safety practices and PPE requirements.
Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Ability to operate pipe threading machines.
Clear communication with clients and team members.
Teamwork in varied circumstances.
Ability to handle frequent interruptions.

Job Summary

VFS Fire & Security Services is looking for a full-time Sprinkler Fitter to join our Orange, CA office. This individual will be responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing fire sprinkler systems. The fire sprinkler fitter’s duties include interpreting work specifications and fire codes, ensuring the installation meets NFPA13 specifications, coaching apprentices, following workplace procedures, and adhering to company safety policies.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Installation, modifications, and repairs of fire sprinkler systems.
Follow safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
Follow the company and industry standardized practices and/or methods.
Fill out work tickets and submit them when work is completed.
Prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports, etc.).
Solve practical problems and create action plans.
Work under limited supervision.
Train and coach fire sprinkler apprentice(s).
Attend training, safety, and education meetings to enhance knowledge of safety concerns and resolve related issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

3+ years of fire sprinkler installation experience.
Knowledge of NFPA13, 25, and California Fire Code.
Ability & willingness to travel out-of-state for business needs.
Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Valid Cal Fire fitter certification/trainee preferred.

Ability to read and understand inspection reports, product specification sheets, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
Complete knowledge of operating various electrical and mechanical tools such as saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threaders, lifts, ladders, and motor vehicles.
Ability to adhere to safety practices.
Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
Knowledge of how to safely operate a pipe threading machine.
Ability to communicate clearly with clients and fellow team members.
Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions.

This pay range reflects the compensation rate Fortis Fire & Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and skillset. This role is also eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k match, pet insurance, short term/long term disability, etc...

Compensation Rate: $28 USD - $35 USD

This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
