Job summary

Wachter is seeking a detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Engineer to join our fire protection team. You’ll troubleshoot and coordinate sprinkler systems that meet NFPA standards and local codes.

We seek self-motivated candidates with 5+ years in fire sprinkler and fire alarm, NICET Level III–IV preferred, and proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office. Travel and licensing across states may be required. Wachter offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • NICET Level III–IV certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in fire sprinkler systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in fire alarm systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA, IFC, IBC, NEC codes.
  • Ability to read architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to manage licensing requirements across multiple states.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydraulic calculations and interpret construction documents.
  • Coordinate sprinkler piping repairs with other building systems and trades.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and local building codes.
  • Conduct field checks to verify design accuracy.
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and contractors.
  • Prepare material lists and assist with permitting and inspections.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and quality improvements.
  • Obtain and maintain state licenses across the U.S. as required for fire protection work.
