Job summary

APIC Solutions in Oklahoma City is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team. You will design, coordinate, and manage sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, including ongoing data center installations, while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include hydraulic calculations, NFPA compliance, reviewing documents, preparing submittals, BIM modeling, field surveys, and cross-team communication.

Qualifications

• Applicable degree from a technical school or college.
• 5+ years of experience as a fire sprinkler designer.
• Experience with specialized fire sprinkler layout software (AutoCAD/HydraCad preferred).
• NICET II or NICET III certification, or ability to obtain
• Strong knowledge of NFPA standards.
• Demonstrated quality computer skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design wet, dry, and pre-action automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, standpipes, and water storage tanks.
• Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure system efficiency and compliance.
• Ensure all sprinkler designs meet NFPA standards, specifications, engineered drawings, and AHJ requirements.
• Review construction contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Prepare comprehensive submittal packages for AHJ and Engineers of Record.
• Create stock lists for all materials to be used throughout projects.
• Perform BIM modeling on specific projects and participate in coordination meetings.
• Conduct field surveys of existing buildings and perform on-site visits as needed.
• Communicate effectively with design team members, project managers, general contractors, engineers, and architects.
• Assist field personnel with installation issues and technical questions.
• Prepare all job close-out documentation.
• Operate with minimal supervision while completing designs and submittals in a timely manner
