Job summary

Ahern is offering a Fire Sprinkler Design Intern position in Des Moines, IA. This internship goes beyond coffee runs, providing hands-on experience with real projects in fire protection design using AutoCAD and AutoSPRINK.

You’ll prepare stock lists and ensure designs meet project requirements, under mentorship from industry experts. Qualifications include pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, with strong math/analytical skills; knowledge of construction is a plus.

How you will contribute:

This is a great opportunity to play a key role in various fire protection system design projects. As a Fire Protection Design Intern, you will exercise your attention to detail while designing automatic sprinkler systems using AutoCAD and AutoSPRINK. Your responsibilities will also include designing a variety of fire protection sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable codes and within the scope of the contract. Additionally, you will prepare stock lists in the standard Company format, ensuring all details align with project requirements.

What you need to qualify:

Prior experience working in AutoCADand strong math and analytical skills is preferred. Candidates should be currently pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field. Knowledge of the construction industry is helpful.
