Job summary

Impact Fire Services in Worcester, MA is seeking a trainee for sprinkler system installation. You will assist sprinkler fitters, learn codes, and gain hands-on experience under experienced mentors in a fast-growing fire protection company.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform physical activities outlined in the physical requirements checklist.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Fitter to complete tasks on a job site in a timely, effective manner.
  • Learn applicable fire protection codes and obtain required licensing.
  • Work safely according to company safety procedures including PPE and lockout/tag-out.
  • Maintain vehicle in accordance with company procedures and keep it clean and organized.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Fitter and the Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Manager.

This position is considered a trainee who is learning the mechanics of sprinkler system installation. This position may be responsible for site clean-up, unloading, staging, and distributing work material to other employees at a job site. Position will also cut and thread pipe. May install and test fire sprinkler systems under the close guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter. Position receives guidance and direction regarding day-to-day work tasks from a Sprinkler Fitter. The apprentice is also responsible for assisting in maintaining a clean, well-organized vehicle and ensuring a safe environment for his/herself, co-workers, and customers.

  • Work with the Fitter to achieve any tasks necessary to complete work on a given job site in a timely, effective manner.
  • Learn applicable fire protection codes and obtain applicable state licensing.
  • Work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures including the driving, personal protective equipment, and lockout/tag-out policies.
  • Maintain their vehicle in accordance with company procedures and ensure it is clean and organized.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Fitter and/or the Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Manager.
Qualifications
  • Capable of working independently and completing duties and projects with moderate supervision.

  • Ability to perform physical activities outlined in the accompanying physical requirements checklist.
  • Ability to read labels, signage and directions along with basic math computation skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Applicable experience in either the fire protection or the commercial customer service business in some capacity is a plus but not required.
  • A commercial sprinkler systems background or a basic level of comfort and knowledge with pipe fitting, electrical work, and commercial sprinkler system fittings is a plus but not required.

Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
