Job summary

The City of Philadelphia’s Fire Department is hiring paramedic-certified candidates for advanced life support and field paramedical work. You will respond to emergency calls, stabilize patients, and transport them to medical facilities while coordinating with fire, police, and the public.

This full-time role requires PA paramedic certification, a valid PA driver’s license, and the ability to work rotating shifts under supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • State Paramedic certification.
  • PA Paramedic certification and PA driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform duties with physical readiness.

Overview

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard paramedical practices and established drug therapy protocols.
  • Perform duties while on rotating shifts, often in adverse weather or physically demanding conditions.
  • Work under the general supervision of an administrative or technical fire officer.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid state certification as a Paramedic in any state.
  • Possession of a Pennsylvania State certification as a Paramedic and a valid proper class motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to perform duties with physical readiness; entry level does not require prior experience.
Physical and Medical Requirements

Ability to physically perform the duties and work in the environmental conditions required of a Fire Service Paramedic.

Licenses & Certifications

Possession of a Pennsylvania state license as a Paramedic prior to appointment and during tenure, and a valid proper class motor vehicle operator’s license issued by Pennsylvania.
