Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking an on-site Inspector in Charleston, SC to perform routine inspections, testing and maintenance on Fire and Security lines. You will work with low voltage wiring, complete service records, and follow a structured inspection schedule.

The role requires experience in low voltage systems and Fire/Security, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift 50-70 lbs. You must be able to climb ladders and work flexible hours, including weekends, with strong customer

Qualifications

• Experience with low voltage electrical systems and Fire/Security systems required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrates aptitude for troubleshooting systems.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50-70 lbs.
• Comfortable climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lifts up to 40 ft.
• Willing to work flexible hours including weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service, and perform preventative maintenance on Fire and Security product lines and similar competitors’ products.
• Work with low voltage wiring and related devices for operation of equipment.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding via laptop or printouts.
• Follow and maintain a structured inspection schedule.
• Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents electronically.
• Complete inspections on time and with accuracy.

What you will do:

Inspector will be responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Fire and Security safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines within. Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment. Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy. Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule. Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via laptop computer. Complete assigned inspections on time.

Required

• Documented experience in low voltage electrical systems and Fire and /or Security Systems experience required.

• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.

• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

• Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation that may involve weekends to meet customer requirements.

• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.

• Ability to work well with others.

• Self-starter that can work with supervision.

• Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

Preferred

• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.

• One to three years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems preferred.

• Access Control and CCTV Testing

• NICET certification preferred.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25-$34 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
