Job summary

UCSF Facilities Services Department (FS) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of UCSF campus facilities, with 400+ staff and over $90 million in operating funds. Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in a facilities organization or equivalent.
  • Clear verbal and written communication with campus departments, contractors, and consultants.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to give clear written and oral instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to analyze problems, determine solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Fingerprinting, background check, and physical examination required.

  • Maintain and inspect fire extinguishers.
  • Maintain, service, test, and inspect fire sprinkler systems at UCSF.

Job Description

The UCSF Facilities Services Department (FS) is committed to creating an exceptional campus physical environment to support the research, teaching, health care and community service mission of the University. FS employs over 400 professional staff and acts as steward for over $90 million in operating funds. Our primary goal is to operate and maintain the UCSF campus environment. Located in the Campus Life Services organization, FS is organized into 5 distinct units: (1) Mission Bay/East Campus Facilities Services, (2) Parnassus/West Campus Facilities Services, (3) Engineering & Energy Services, (4) Customer Service & Technology, and (5) Strategic Organizational Development & Training.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, operate, repair, design, install, program, test, and inspect fire alarm systems.
  • Maintain and inspect fire extinguishers.
  • Maintain, service, test, and inspect fire sprinkler systems at UCSF.
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of other fire and life safety equipment.
Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a facilities organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with campus departments at all levels, contractors and design consultants; ability to effectively interact with a diverse professional staff both independently and as a team member in a busy environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reports.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to give clear written and oral instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Able to analyze problems, determine solutions, and make decisions based on analysis.
  • Fingerprinting, background check, and physical examination required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of fire safety inspection process.
  • Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
