Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a qualified Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter to install and test automatic fire suppression systems within our new construction division in Louisa, VA.

This full-time role requires reading drawings, installing piping supports, connecting to water mains, and verifying system integrity. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of experience, knowledge of NFPA standards, and the ability to work across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as a Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter or equivalent training/experience.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task and follow instructions.
• Willingness to report to multiple job sites.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and specs to determine layout.
• Install clamps, brackets and hangers for piping and sprinkler equipment.
• Connect piping to water mains, tanks, pumps, and control equipment.
• Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure.
• Train and direct day-to-day work of a helper.
• Maintain documentation for work performed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary/Objective

The Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter is responsible for the installation and testing of automatic fire suppression systems within our new construction division.

Essential Functions

• The Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter reads and interprets drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements
• Installs clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment
• Connects piping system to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
• Tests system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
• Trains and directs the day to day work of a Helper
• Maintains appropriate documentation for the work performed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility : No

Required

• 2+ years of experience as a Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
• Ability to interpret blueprints and architectural drawings
• Knowledge of NFPA Standards
• Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
• Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
• Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment

• May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
• May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
• May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands

• This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
• While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Travel

• May require travel

Preferred

• 4+ years as a Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter on heavy commercial construction projects
• Prior military experience
• HS diploma or GED equivalent
