Job summary

Vallen is seeking a Lead Service Technician focused on Life Safety Services to install, inspect, test and maintain life safety systems for established customers across scheduled visits. You will lead technicians, coordinate job activities, and ensure documentation and invoicing accuracy while upholding regulatory standards.

The role requires certifications, strong mechanical skills, and experience with life safety systems such as fire protection and gas detection.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED.
  • Minimum 3 Certification (manufacturing/state) in a fire protection related field.
  • NICET II or greater.
  • Fire Alarm & Ext A 2-4 years' experience.
  • WBS Construction 2-4 years' experience (Industry related).
  • RME-I (if applicable).
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Advance communication, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in installation/maintenance of Life Safety Systems.
  • Advance industry segment knowledge.
  • Maintain minimum productivity of 95% within 60 days.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a Customer Account or Project.
  • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
  • Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
  • Commercial Driver's License if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
  • Proficient with hand tools.
  • Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Able to provide assistance, advise and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
  • Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by continuing education as required.
  • Must pass Drug & Alcohol screen, Physical exam, and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality of service to our customers. Assist assigned HTS technicians with proper training in Vallen standard operating procedures.
  • Provide customer service in installation and/or ITM of Life Safety Systems including Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Gas Detection Systems, Foam Systems, Dry Chemical Systems, Clean Agent Systems, Special Hazard Systems and Water Based Systems.
  • May coordinate jobs or lead other technicians within area of expertise and interact with customers to coordinate activities.
  • Ensure all documentation associated with tasks is completed and turned in for invoicing.
  • Ensure required copies are provided to the customer upon servicing equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations relevant to duties.
  • May handle Parts & Equipment requests and maintain inventories related to jobs and orders.
  • Maintain safe work practices and assist in shipping/receiving and asset handling as needed.
  • Supervise a tech service unit if required.

Job description

Position Summary:

Put your maintenance and repair skills to good use at Vallen as a Lead Service Technician focused on Life Safety Services in the Vallen Safety Services Group. In this position, you will install and/or inspect, test, and maintain (ITM) life safety systems and equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide quality of service to our customers. Assist assigned HTS technicians with proper training in Vallen standard operating procedures.

  • Providing customer service in the area of installation and/or ITM of Life Safety Systems. Including, but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Gas Detection Systems, Foam Systems, Dry Chemical Systems, Clean Agent Systems, Special Hazard Systems and Water Based Systems.

  • May also have job coordination responsibilities in the absence of a Technician Lead if assigned by the supervisor/manager for specific jobs or customers.

  • May lead other technicians within area of expertise.

  • May be responsible for interacting with the customers to coordinate job activities.

  • Responsible for ensuring all documentation associated with assigned tasks is filled out accurately, completely & turned in for proper invoicing.

  • Ensures all required copies provided to the customer upon servicing equipment.

  • Knowledgeable of all regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties, i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, etc.

  • May be responsible for Parts & Equipment requests for specific assigned jobs.

  • Maintaining accurate inventories related to job and maintenance orders.

  • Always exhibit safe work practices.

  • Assist shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributing to sales associates for processing.

  • May include the use of company provided assets such as but not limited to: Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, BR Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card and/or Credit Card.

  • Associates are required to maintain proper care of all assets as defined by Vallen policies.

  • May have immediate supervision over a tech service unit.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Working conditions will vary with service work being performed indoors and out in the field.

  • Possibility of working in hazardous environments when working within a plant which would require safety precautions and appropriate equipment.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • Occasional lifting of items weighting a maximum of 55 lbs.

  • Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.

  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24' high.

  • Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.

  • Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours.

  • Bending, climbing, and stooping as needed for access of equipment to repair and service.

  • Pass all test requirements to be approved to work offshore. (If Applicable)
