Job summary

Vallen is seeking a Service Technician II focused on Life Safety Services within the Fire Alarm Projects Group. You will install, inspect, test and maintain life safety systems for established customers on a scheduled basis.

Responsibilities include servicing Life Safety Systems, providing excellent customer support, and ensuring accurate documentation for invoicing and compliance with NFPA and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• Minimum 3 certifications in a fire protection related field.
• Fire Alarm experience preferred (2–4 years).
• Notifier programming experience (N-16, NFS 320, 640, 3030).
• Suppression license preferred.
• WBS Construction experience (2–4 years) is a plus.
• Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Relevant experience in installation/maintenance of Life Safety Systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Summary:

Put your maintenance and repair skills to good use at Vallen as a Service Technician II focused on Life Safety Services in the Vallen Safety Services Fire Alarm Projects Group. In this position, you will install and/or inspect, test, and maintain (ITM) life safety systems and equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducting service calls.
• Systems testing and inspections to the prescribed standards.
• Performing on-site emergency troubleshooting and maintaining of customer's Life Safety Systems.
• Identifying code issues and discrepancies.
• Preparing accurate, timely Technician worksheets (TWS) and reports.
• Installing Life Safety Systems.
• Providing customer service in the area of installation and/or ITM of Life Safety Systems. Including, but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Gas Detection Systems, Foam Systems, Dry Chemical Systems, Clean Agent Systems, Special Hazard Systems and Water Based Systems.
• Responsible for providing the testing and repair documentation and ensuring it is filled out accurately, completely and turned in for proper invoicing.
• Responsible for ensuring the customer has all required copies of all required documentation upon servicing equipment.
• Basic knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties, i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, etc.
• Always exhibit safe work practices.
• Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributing to sales associates for processing.
• May include the use of company provided assets such as but not limited to: Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, BR Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card and/or Credit Card.
• Associates are required to maintain proper care of all assets as defined by Vallen policies.

Job Qualifications:

• High School or GED
• Minimum 3 Certification (manufacturing/state) in a fire protection related field
• Fire Alarm preferred 2-4 years' experience or
• Notifier programming experience (N-16, NFS 320, 640, 3030)
• Suppression license preferred
• WBS Construction 2-4 years' experience (Industry related)
• Mechanically inclined
• Advance communication, initiative, and problem-solving skills
• Specific -- RELEVENT experience
  • Experience in the installation and/or maintenance, repair and service of Life Safety Systems and equipment is required.
  • Advance industry segment knowledge.
  • Maintain minimum productivity of 95% within 60 days.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a Customer Acct or Project.
  • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
  • Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
  • Commercial Driver's License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
  • Proficient with hand tools.
  • Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner
  • Able to provide assistance, advise and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
  • Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required.
  • Must pass Drug & Alcohol screen, Physical exam, and background check.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Possibility of working in hazardous environments when working within a plant which would require safety precautions and appropriate equipment.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
• Occasional lifting of items weighting a maximum of 55 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24' high.
• Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
• Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours.
• Bending, climbing, and stooping as needed for access of equipment to repair and service.
• Pass all test requirements to be approved to work offshore. (If Applicable)
