Job summary

Vallen is seeking an Onsite Service Technician III focused on Life Safety Services within the Safety Services Group in Louisiana. You will install, inspect, test, and maintain life safety systems for established customers on a scheduled basis.

Responsibilities include coordinating jobs, mentoring technicians, interacting with customers, and ensuring accurate invoicing and records. Candidates should have 3 fire protection certifications, NICET II, and 2–4 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 certifications in a fire protection field.
• NICET II or greater certification.
• 2–4 years’ experience in Fire Alarm & Extinguishers or related construction work.

• Provide quality service and assist HTS technicians with training.
• Install and ITM life safety systems (Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm & Detection, Gas Detection, etc.).
• Coordinate jobs and lead technicians as needed.
• Interact with customers to coordinate job activities.

Position Summary

Onsite Service Technician III focused on Life Safety Services in the Safety Services Group. Install, inspect, test, and maintain (ITM) life safety systems for established customers on a scheduled basis.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide quality service and assist assigned HTS technicians with training in Vallen SOPs.
• Install and/or ITM life safety systems: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm and Detection, Gas Detection, Foam Systems, Dry Chemical, Clean Agent, Specialty Hazard, Water‑based Systems.
• Coordinate jobs and lead technicians as needed.
• Interact with customers to coordinate job activities.
• Ensure accurate documentation for invoicing and customer records.
• Maintain inventory and request parts/equipment.
• Adhere to regulatory standards (State, OSHA, NFPA).
• Assist shipping/receiving and warehouse operations.
• Use company assets responsibly (vehicles, tools, radios, etc.).
• Oversee immediate supervision of a tech service unit when assigned.

Job Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 certifications (manufacturing/state) in a fire protection field.
• NICET II or greater.
• Experience: Fire Alarm & Extinguishers 2‑4 years or WBS Construction 2‑4 years (industry related).
• RME‑I (if applicable).
• Mechanically inclined with advanced communication, initiative, and problem‑solving skills.
• Relevant experience in installation/maintenance, repair, and service of life safety systems and equipment.
• Maintain 95% productivity within 60 days.
• Proven ability to manage a Customer Account or Project.
• Capability to repair and service Vallen‑sold equipment.
• Valid Motor Vehicle License; commercial driver’s license required for hazardous materials.
• Proficient with hand tools and able to complete repairs promptly.
• Assist Vallen associates and plant personnel; train and advise when needed.
• Keep certifications and licenses current.
• Pass Drug & Alcohol screening, Physical exam, and background check.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Service work both indoors and outdoors, may involve hazardous environments.
• Cryogenic or extreme temperatures possible; safety precautions required.
• Regular verbal communication required.
• Occasional lifting up to 55 lbs; ability to climb ladders up to 24' and stairwells up to 15 levels.
• Stamina for walking, standing, and working from a standing position 8‑10 hours.
• Bending, climbing, stooping as needed for access to equipment.
• Must pass all test requirements to be approved for offshore work (if applicable).
