Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to deliver designs that protect lives and property on environmental and infrastructure projects. You will contribute to comprehensive fire protection systems, performing HydraCAD/Calc analyses and life-safety studies, while coordinating with federal and local teams to meet project goals.

This hybrid role supports clients with offices nationwide, including Dallas, TX, and offers opportunities to mentor junior staff and drive NFPA/UFC-compliant

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • PE license preferred or pursuing licensure.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Equivalent experience may substitute for degree.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fire protection engineering designs: water supply, hydraulics, sprinkler, alarm systems.
  • Act as QFPE for federal projects with life-safety analysis.
  • Review designs for NFPA/UFC compliance and sign off.
  • Create fire protection life-safety designs and evaluations (eg egress, fire hazard).
  • Collaborate with sales to prepare proposals and review RFPs.
