Job summary

Colby Co. is a midsize design firm in Portland, Maine, seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with 3+ years of building and industrial experience. The role covers building life safety codes, fire protection systems, and mass notification across diverse projects.

Candidates should bring a track record in design, quality control, and construction administration. The team works within the MEP Engineering Department alongside structural, civil, and architectural staff.

Qualifications

Experience with Life Safety Code Consulting, Performance Based Design, and Fire Protection System Design.
Strong knowledge of building systems, including how Fire Protection Systems coordinate with other Building Systems.
Successful completion of the FE exam; PE license a plus.
Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is desirable.

Responsibilities

Perform fire protection design for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
Conduct building/code analyses and life-safety considerations.
Coordinate fire protection with other building systems and disciplines.
Support construction administration and project team collaboration.
