Job summary
Gresham Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Chicago team. You will design fire sprinkler systems using AutoSprink and review plans for life safety systems across projects, collaborating with engineers and architects to ensure code-compliant solutions.
You will work with discipline leads to stay current with IBC, NFPA, and FM standards, applying strong communication as you coordinate with multiple stakeholders from design through installation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
- 4+ years as a fire protection engineer.
- AutoCAD/Revit experience or AutoSprink preferred.
- Knowledge of IBC, NFPA, and FM standards.
- MS Office proficiency; especially Word/Excel.
- Experience using Bluebeam or Adobe Pro.
- Strong communication and problem-solving with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design and plan fire sprinkler systems using AutoSprink.
- Evaluate building plans and drawings for life safety systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors.
- Ensure designs meet fire safety codes, standards and regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training on regulations and advancements.
