Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. in Nashville, TN is seeking a personable Fire Protection Designer to join our multi-disciplined design team and support the design and technical delivery of fire protection systems for a wide range of commercial projects.

This individual will coordinate fire protection scope with internal design teams, support code-compliant and practical system solutions, and grow into technical leadership as experience increases.

Qualifications

• Experience in applying NFPA, UFCs and Building codes/standards (IBC, SBC, etc.).
• Proficient in fire protection design and committed to continuous learning.
• Proficient with Revit and BIM workflows for Fire Protection engineering and design.
• Ability to provide technical guidance to junior engineers and staff.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for team-based projects.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills for overlapping schedules.

Responsibilities

• Experience in fire protection design principles for building construction.
• Directly manages the fire protection scope on projects and coordinates with other design staff on technical deliverables.
• Operates with a high level of care and work ethic.
• Effective communicator with internal and external team members.
• Ability to work well independently as part of a strong team.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to navigate and prioritize tasks based on complex delivery schedules.
• Assists engineering calculations and analysis using available software.
• Aides in production of 3D fire protection designs using Autodesk Revit.
