Job summary

Western States Fire Protection Co. is seeking a Fire Protection Designer to design and coordinate fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.

The role involves drafting and producing finished drawings used by construction teams on-site and in the office. The designer will plan projects, schedule work, compile material lists, analyze changes, and resolve issues while closely coordinating with the project manager, superintendent, and sales staff throughout the

Qualifications

• Technical degree or diploma from a technical school or college.
• NICET certification is a plus.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, AutoSprink or similar fire sprinkler layout software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PDF software, and Bluebeam.
• Three years of design experience in commercial, industrial, and residential sectors.
• Detail-oriented with strong freehand and mechanical lettering/drawing skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Must have reliable transportation and be located in the Greater Bay Area.
• Willing to coordinate and work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and possibly project manage fire sprinkler systems for various buildings.

• Plan projects including scheduling, material stock listing, and change analysis; solve problems.

Fire Protection Designer

This individual will design, coordinate, and possibly project manage the fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. He or she will design and create the finished representation for the sprinkler systems using drawing, drafting skills, and tools. The drawings produced will be used as a guide by every other link in the chain of construction, both on-site and in the office. The designer will have responsibility for the initial planning of a project including scheduling of time, creating material stock listing, analyzing changes, and solving problems. Close coordination with the project manager, project superintendent, and sales representative will be required throughout the life of the project.

This position has a salary range of $25-$45 per hour depending on experience.

Job Qualifications

• Applicable degree from a technical school or college
• NICET certification is a plus
• Demonstrated ability with Revit, AutoCAD, AutoSprink, or other specialized fire sprinkler layout software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PDF software, Bluebeam
• Project management experience a plus
• Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines
• Three years experience in commercial. industrial, and residential design
• Must be detail-oriented and skilled in free hand and mechanical lettering and drawings
• Must have good communication skills
• Must have reliable transportation and live in the Greater Bay Area
• Willing to coordinate and work well with others
