Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services seeks a Fire Prevention & Safety Officer for Griffin Memorial Hospital. You will inspect buildings for fire hazards, enforce laws, and provide security to staff and visitors.

Typical duties include patrolling premises, assisting people, directing traffic, and protecting property. This is a full-time overnight position with shift from 10:00pm to 8:30am and non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• Level I: No education and experience required.
• Level II: Completion of a basic security or firefighter's course and 2 years of security or fire prevention experience.

Responsibilities

Fire Prevention & Safety Officer

About the Position

Incumbents are assigned responsibilities, involving the inspection of buildings and grounds for elimination of fire hazards, enforcement of laws, rules and regulations and providing security at Griffin Memorial Hospital.

Typical work duties may include patrolling assigned premises to identify and correct fire hazards; providing assistance to employees or visitors; directing traffic; and performing other duties related to the protection of state property, employees, visitors and others.

Job Type/Salary

• This is a Full-time overnight shift position
  • Schedule: 10:00pm to8:30am
• Annual Salary
  • Level I: $14.18/hourly
  • Level II: $15.14/hourly
• This position is Non-Exempt
• Posteduntil filled

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Level I: No requisite education and experience are required for consideration.

Level II: Completion of a basic security and/or firefighter's course, and2 years of experience in security or fire prevention and protection work

Special Requirements

• Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of lifting/carrying 60 pounds occasionally, and able to push and pull a maximum force of 30 pounds.
• Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver's license.
