Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Portables Technician to independently perform inspections, maintenance, and service of portable fire protection equipment in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

You will document work, comply with NFPA standards, travel to sites, and contribute to safety and customer service while following company policies. Requires high school diploma and 3+ years in fire and life safety; NICET I preferred; clean driving record if driving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in fire and life safety industry.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• Clean driving record and active driver’s license if driving role.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and related equipment independently.
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Conduct annual inspections, maintenance, and assist with testing as required.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures.
• Accurately document services performed, including tagging and reporting.
• Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to customers and supervisors.
• Maintain and properly use tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job status and findings.
• Travel to job sites as required.

This role is responsible for completing standard inspections, maintenance, and service work without direct supervision while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and company standards.
