The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is seeking a Fire/EMS Dispatcher to coordinate emergency responses and operate communication systems. This role requires background and medical clearance prior to hiring.
Working under general supervision, you will respond to emergency situations, dispatch units, and maintain logs. The position is permanent and full-time, based mainly in various California counties including Butte and Santa Clara.

Under general supervision, operates multifrequency/channel radio systems, law enforcement telecommunications terminals, computer terminals, and associated equipment; responds to telephone hot‑line circuits; dispatches mobile law enforcement and emergency response units to specified points as required; identifies locations where assistance is required, determines the availability and location of departmental units, and dispatches units by radio; requests emergency services as requested or required by field personnel; responds to other law enforcement and emergency response agencies, dispatches departmental units for response as necessary; acts as incident coordinators, tracking and responding to emergency response calls; accesses data related to warrants, driver licenses, vehicle and vessel registrations, hazardous materials, weapons, stolen property, and criminal history information through the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System; accesses data on other law enforcement records’ databases; maintains required logs; answers telephone inquiries and provides information; and performs other related duties.
Hires may be made in the following counties: Butte, El Dorado, Humboldt, Lassen, Mendocino, Napa, Nevada, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama.
