Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a service technician to diagnose and repair fire alarm and related building systems at customer sites, primarily in Asheville, NC. You will interpret blueprints, troubleshoot complex systems, and ensure safety and quality while delivering top-notch service.
The role requires 1–2+ years of relevant experience, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel. You’ll work in a collaborative team, with room for growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Receive service calls fromServiceResource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
Responsible for contacting customerrepresentativeandascertainequipment/systems problems.
Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. to repair equipment.
Service, troubleshoot and install many different manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems including SimplexGrinnell.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals,specificationssoftware/systems, programs,schematicsand operational product manuals.
Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with the district staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices, such as smart phones and laptop computers.
Obtain customer signature upon completed service call assignment.
Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation. Help to train or mentor others on the service team.
Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolveservice relateditems. As a trusted advisor to ourcustomersyou will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service
Perform other duties as assigned.
This skilled position involves troubling shooting and repairing installed systems. Including panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, resolving low voltage circuit troubles and system testing.
Organize and effectivelyutilizetechnical resources, information, material, and support toassureefficient execution of all assigned tasks.
Candidatemustpossessexcellent written/verbal communication and outstanding customer service skills.
Position involves the programming of fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
Experience CCTV and IT and IPnetworksa plus.
Complete andsubmitall required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentationin a timely manner.
On call andafter hoursworkrequiredon occasion at customerneed.
Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
1-2plus years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion,soundand communications systems
Must be able to interpret blueprints,diagramsand specifications.
A good working knowledge of computers is necessary.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs. Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders,scaffoldingand high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings,etc
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
Overnight travel may berequired.
Demonstratea high levelof customer service.
Maintain truck inventory to ensuretimelyresponse to customer needs.
Ability to adhere to, implement, andfollow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, andan abilityto learn quickly.
Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
Retain any licensesthat are requiredby National,Stateand Local codes.

$18 - $22 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
