The City of Elizabethtown is seeking a candidate to lead its Fire Department. Elizabethtown, Kentucky is a Home Rule City located in Central Kentucky. Elizabethtown is the county seat of Hardin County with an estimated population of 35,448 (2025 US Census).

The successful candidate will lead a department of 72 personnel including command staff, firefighters, fire prevention inspectors and support personnel. The department is housed in four stations located strategically around the city for optimal response times. The City has a Class 2 ISO rating.

A candidate search committee will conduct interviews of selected candidates. This is a nonelected city officer position, and the appointment must receive approval from the Elizabethtown City Council. The City of Elizabethtown is an equal opportunity employer.
