Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Houston, TX is seeking a Fire Alarm and Security Service Technician to independently perform maintenance and service on fire alarm, burglar, CCTV, and access control systems. You will diagnose issues, interpret drawings, and ensure compliance with codes while keeping detailed service records.

The ideal candidate has a Texas FAL license, 5+ years of field experience, a clean driving record, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

The Fire Alarm and Security Service Technician is a role responsible for independently performing core technical functions related to the service of fire alarm and security (burglar alarms, CCTV, access control) systems. This position is capable of completing standard service and maintenance tasks without direct supervision. The technician applies industry knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and best practices to ensure systems are operating in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm and security systems independently.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.
• Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.

• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Qualifications:

• Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL) required.
• Additional Security Alarm Installer License preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm and security systems, components, and troubleshooting methods.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Must have a clean driving record and active driver's license.

Other Duties:

• Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
