Job summary

Xanterra Travel Collection invites applications for a Fire Alarm Technician at the Grand Canyon South Rim. The role oversees operation and maintenance of fire alarm, emergency lighting and exit signs, collaborating with Risk Department managers and external contractors to ensure safety and compliance.

The position is full-time, year-round, paying $27.55 per hour. Typical schedule is 40 hours per week, with potential evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fire alarm and fire suppression system operation.
• Knowledge of applicable codes for fire alarm and suppression systems.
• Familiar with materials and equipment common to the trade.
• Knowledge of basic electrical/electronic circuitry as relates to fire alarm systems and ability to stay current with new tech.
• Ability to identify code/equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective action.
• Physical ability to enter confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must obtain/possess AZ Driver’s License within 90 days and comply with company policy.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance, testing and record-keeping for fire alarm and suppression systems.
• Identify and resolve issues with fire alarm and suppression systems per NFPA/National Park Service standards.
• Install replacement fire alarm and suppression system components.
• Respond to Trouble alarms and restore systems to full operation.
• Initiate material orders, maintain inventories and track tools/materials.
• Coordinate work with National Park Service, Risk Management, Fire & Security and Switchboard.
• Ensure compliance with building codes related to the position.
• Coordinate visits with outside contractors for repairs/new installations.
• Adhere to safety, risk management and environmental policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Assure operation of fire alarm, emergency lighting, exit signs and other related equipment/systems. Work in conjunction with Xanterra Risk Department Managers and outside Telecommunications Contractors.

The Details

Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Pay: $27.55 per hour

Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Housing: Eligible for a Private 1-Bedroom Apartment for $352 per month and $352 housing deposit.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preventative maintenance, testing and record keeping for all fire alarm and suppression systems on the property as required by code.
• Identify and resolve issues with fire alarm and suppression systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA and National Park Service standards.
• Install replacement fire alarm and suppression system components.
• Respond to all Trouble alarms, resolving the issues quickly and returning systems to full operation.
• Responsible for initiation of material orders, maintenance of inventories and accounting for all materials and tools.
• Responsible for coordinating all work-related activities with the National Park Service, Risk management, Fire & Security and Switchboard.
• Ensure that all building codes as related to the position are being adhered to.
• Coordinate visits with outside contractors to complete complex repairs and new installations.
• Comply with all safety, risk management, and environmental policies related to the position.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be familiar with the use of materials and equipment common to the trade.
• Know basic electrical and electronic circuitry principles as they apply to fire alarm systems and the ability to stay current with new technology.
• Must have ability to identify code and equipment deficiencies and recommend proper corrective action.
• Must have physical ability and agility to enter confined spaces, ascend/descend ladders and to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days of start date and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.

Physical Requirements

Frequently: Stand, walk, handle, reach outward/above shoulders, climb, crawl, squat/kneel, bend, lift/carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull up to 25 lbs.

Occasionally: Sit, lift/carry up to 100 lbs., push/pull up to 40 lbs.
