Job summary

citizenship and eligibility for security clearance. You will read blueprints, test devices, and report findings while coordinating with account managers and customers. This full-time position includes after-hours on-call as needed and ongoing skill

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience or 2-year technology degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Applicants will be subject to a government security investigation; ability to obtain HSPD-12 & Secret clearance.
  • NICET II certified OR pass the NICET II exam within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and inspection of fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting deficiencies.
  • Functionally test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and peripherals.
  • Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers.
  • Prepare accurate inspection and service reports.
  • Perform under supervision mid-size FA system upgrades and installation.
  • Read blueprints and drawings.
  • Maintain truck inventory.
  • Be on rotation for after-hours service calls.
  • Develop relationships with building owners and managers.
  • Pursue and maintain industry certifications with company support.

License & Certification Requirements
  • NICET Level II certified OR
  • Pass the NICET II exam within 90 days of employment.
Shift Availability
  • 1st shift - 6:00am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday
  • 2nd shift - 12:30pm-11:00pm, Monday-Thursday
  • 3rd shift - 10:00pm-8:30am, Monday-Thursday
  • 4th shift - 7:00am-7:30pm, Friday-Sunday
  • 5th shift - 7:00pm-7:30am, Friday-Sunday

Candidate shift preferences will be considered based on current staffing needs and availability.

Responsibilities
  • Perform testing and inspection of fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting existing and potential deficiencies.
  • Functionally-test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and all other peripherals and system components.
  • Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and to account managers for accurate and efficient quoting of recommended repairs.
  • Prepare accurate and timely inspection and service reports.
  • Perform under supervision mid-size FA system upgrades and installation based on provided drawings and submittals.
  • Perform under supervision pre-testing and final inspections for assigned projects.
  • Determine materials needed for repairs and order them.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, building managers, and other customer representatives.
  • Perform all duties required to successfully complete projects within estimate and according to specifications.
  • Respond to service requests, diagnose system malfunctions of fire alarms and adjust, repair or replace equipment as needed to bring into compliance.
  • Perform under supervision of the installation of low voltage systems.
  • Perform under supervision PITCO activities.
  • Read blueprints and drawings.
  • Maintain truck inventory.
  • Be on rotation to respond to after-hours service calls as scheduled by supervisor.
  • Pursue and maintain industry certifications, as well as grow technical and customer service skills with active support from M.C. Dean.

Abilities
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
