Qualifications

• Two to five years of technician experience in fire-life safety.

Responsibilities

• Review system layouts with engineering, PM, and sales for project success.

This position will work closely with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure a sound design, and seamless installation and commissioning of our fire alarm solutions. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of executing projects. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are important elements of the position. **WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)*** Responsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with engineering, project management, and sales departments for successful project execution.* Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.* Program and commission complex fire alarm systems leading to final acceptance by customers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).* Produce detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA.* Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.* Deliver projects on schedule and within cost budgets.* Program systems via laptop computers.* Assist in the oversight of project inventory and responsible for vehicle inventory.* Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other technicians.* Assist in managing job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.* Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers and explain proper use and how to respond to any system signals.* Comply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies.**WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU*** High school diploma or equivalent.* Two to five (2-5) years of experience in a technician role within the fire-life safety industry.* Ability to program and commission mid-range fire alarm systems independently.* Ability to terminate fire alarm control units and field equipment with minimal supervision.* Ability to communicate and coordinate with onsite contractors.* Intermediate understanding of fire alarm circuit integrity and how to troubleshoot for circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.* Intermediate computer knowledge related to the use and installation of software.* Ability to demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units.* Intermediate knowledge of NFPA 72 code requirements for the installation of a fire alarm system.* Intermediate knowledge of Section 907 of the International Fire Code or state-adopted fire code.* Intermediate knowledge of Section 909 of the International Building Code or state-adopted building code.* Intermediate knowledge of Article 760 of NFPA 70 (electrical code) for the installation of fire systems and circuiting.* State, local, contract, and/or product specific certifications determined by the business.* NICET I certification* Knowledge of state fire procedures, filing, and requirements.* Ability to read fire system design drawings.* Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.* Ability to work independently with some supervision.* Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certification.* Proficient in issue resolution.* Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.* Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.* Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.* Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.**WHAT WE’RE BRINGING TO THE TABLE*** Competitive salary based on qualifications.* Paid time off plan and holidays.* 401(k) matching.* Short term and long-term disability.* Medical, dental, and vision plans with options.* Life insurance.* Company cell phone, laptop, and vehicle.* Professional career development opportunities.* Tuition reimbursement.
