Overview

Role Overview We are looking for a fire alarm & suppression level I who has a passion for the customer and life safety. The candidate should have experience in the fire protection industry and can perform inspections, installation, testing, service and repairs of fire alarm systems, engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems. This includes confirming compliance with applicable life-safety and fire-safety requirements as mandated by standards, codes, manufacturers requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, customer requirements, and the company’s expectations. This is a fast-paced and demanding role with high visibility within the company.

Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, inspection and testing of all types of fire alarm and engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems at required frequencies in accordance with applicable NFPA codes and standards.
  • Perform programming, testing, final inspections, as-built drawings and customer training for installations. Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of fire alarm and engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems.
  • Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations electronically or manually.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers and relay information to appropriate personnel for follow-up, quotes, questions, or concerns.
  • Maintain vehicle, equipment, and tools in a clean, orderly, and stocked condition necessary to perform the job.
  • Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services the customer may require.
  • Work in compliance with the company’s safety program and perform on-site and/or off-site emergency troubleshooting of fire alarm and suppression systems.
  • Discuss deficiencies noted with customers, explaining the problem and its resolution.
  • Occasional work during nights, weekends, and holidays; availability may vary by location.
  • Must be comfortable with heights, ladders or lifts, and working in confined spaces.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 months of technical experience with fire detection and signaling systems.
  • NICET Level 1 Certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages.
  • Proficiency with basic computer functions and software; willingness to learn industry-specific devices and software.
  • Knowledge of low voltage wiring and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ideal Qualities
  • 1–2 years of experience with fire detection and signaling systems.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and circuitry (preferred).
  • State license where relevant in the applying state (where applicable).
Working Conditions

Overtime may be required; work environments may vary from hot to cold and may involve exposure to dust. Travel to customer locations may be required. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent lifting and carrying of tools, equipment, parts, and wiring. Frequent ladder climbing, bending, and kneeling. Driving may be required.
