Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety seeks an experienced Fire Alarm Service Technician to independently perform service and maintenance on fire alarm systems. You will diagnose issues, review drawings, and complete service reports while ensuring compliance with codes and company policies.

The role requires 5+ years in the industry, factory training in EST/Honeywell/Gamewell, and NICET I+ is preferred. Travel to diverse job sites and a proactive, customer-focused approach are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years in fire and life safety as a technician.
  • FASA/BASA certifications.
  • Factory training in EST, Honeywell and Gamewell required.
  • Factory training in Notifier and Silent Knight a plus.
  • NICET Level I or higher preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, components and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license (if driving role).

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm systems independently.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues; implement fixes.
  • Complete standard service calls without supervision.
  • Interpret drawings, specs, and manuals.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Ensure work complies with codes and company policies.
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately.
  • Communicate with customers, team, and supervisors.
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain safe, clean job sites.
  • Train and guide entry-level technicians as needed.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Work in commercial, industrial, construction environments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Fire Alarm Service Technician is a role responsible for independently performing core technical functions related to the service of fire alarm systems. This position is capable of completing standard service and maintenance tasks without direct supervision. The technician applies industry knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and best practices to ensure systems are operating in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm systems independently.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.
  • Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
  • Accurately complete service reports, documentation, and inspection records.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors.
  • Identify potential system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment on job sites.
  • Provide guidance and support to entry-level technicians as needed.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician required.
  • FASA/BASA
  • Factory training in EST, Honeywell and Gamewell required.
  • Factory training in Notifier, Silent Knight is a plus.
  • NICET Level I or above preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, components, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • If Driving Role: Must have a clean driving record and active driver's license.
Other Duties
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
Pay

$33 to 38 per hour depending on certifications & experience.

Weekly pay.

Take home company vehicle.
