Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to independently perform maintenance and service on alarm systems. Travel to commercial, industrial, and construction sites is required, with strong troubleshooting and documentation duties. You will interpret drawings and specifications while ensuring compliance with codes and company standards.

Minimum 3+ years in fire and life safety, a high school diploma, and a clean driving record are required. NICET 2+ is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 3+ years in fire and life safety industry as a technician.
• NICET Level 2 or above preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm systems independently.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.
• Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
• Accurately complete service reports, documentation, and inspection records.
• Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Identify potential system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide guidance and support to entry-level technicians as needed.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education

The Fire Alarm Service Technician is a role responsible for independently performing core technical functions related to the service of fire alarm systems. This position is capable of completing standard service and maintenance tasks without direct supervision. The technician applies industry knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and best practices to ensure systems are operating in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Education/Qualifications

• Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
