Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Fire Alarm Install Technician to independently complete standard installation tasks and program alarms across commercial and industrial sites.

You will read blueprints, install, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems while ensuring compliance with codes and safety policies. 3+ years in fire & life safety, HS diploma, and NICET are preferred; some travel to job sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Fire Alarm Programming experience is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
  • Ability to work independently on standard installation jobs.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems and codes.
  • NICET Level I+ preferred.
  • Clean driving record and active driver’s license if driving is required.

Responsibilities

  • Program fire alarms from scratch.
  • Install fire alarm systems independently per plans and codes.
  • Complete standard installation projects without supervision.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics and drawings.
  • Perform system testing and basic troubleshooting.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment for installations.
  • Ensure safety standards and company policies are followed.
  • Coordinate with team, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Train and support entry-level technicians and apprentices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Fire Alarm Install Technician

The Fire Alarm Install Technician is capable of independently performing core installation tasks for fire alarm systems. This role is responsible for completing standard installation jobs, without direct supervision, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company quality expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Program fire alarms from scratch.
  • Independently install fire alarm systems in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Complete standard installation projects without direct supervision.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Perform system testing and basic troubleshooting.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete installations.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
  • Coordinate with team members, contractors, and project stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Train and support entry-level technicians and apprentices as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, installation practices, and applicable codes.
  • NICET Level I or above preferred.
  • Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving is required).
Other Duties
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
Pay Rate

Pay Rate: $35 to $45 hourly based on experience.
