Job summary

Century Fire Protection in Knoxville, TN is seeking a field technician responsible for installation, programming, and testing of fire alarm systems per project design drawings. You will interpret drawings, verify parts, install panels, wire components, and perform final acceptance testing with the AHJ.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED with 1–3 years of related experience or equivalent training; fire alarm installation experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 1–3 years related experience preferred.
• Fire alarm installation experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret fire alarm and electrical drawings and specifications.
• Review drawings and verify parts for job accuracy.
• Install and program fire alarm control panels and other equipment.
• Mount devices, install conduit and wiring per drawings and codes.
• Perform installation tasks such as drilling for cabling and accessing crawlspaces or attics.
• Identify and repair troubles and test all devices for proper operation.
• Perform final acceptance testing with AHJ.
• Produce installation documentation and reports.

Summary Responsible for installation, programming, and testing of fire alarm systems per project design drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret fire alarm and electrical drawings and specifications.
• Review drawings and verify parts for job are accurate.
• Install and program fire alarm control panels and other equipment.
• Mount devices, install conduit (if applicable) and wiring to connect system components per design drawings and applicable building codes and standards.
• Perform all tasks associated with fire alarm installation, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations such as crawlspaces or attics to ensure optimal wiring layouts.
• Identify and repair any troubles and test all devices and components to ensure proper operation.
• Perform final acceptance testing with the AHJ.
• Produce reports and other documentation to certify the installation of the system.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED; 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fire alarm and/or low voltage installation experience is preferred.
