Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Fire Alarm Installer to support commercial fire and life-safety installation projects. This contract-to-hire role covers sites across our Nashville area and beyond, with independence in the field and direction from a Project Manager.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience installing fire alarm systems, reads drawings, pulls cable, mounts devices, and terminates wiring. You will work with Edwards/EST3/EST4, Notifier, Simplex, Siemens, Honeywell, Fire-Lite, and

Qualifications

• 1+ year of hands-on commercial fire alarm installation experience.
• Candidates must have hands-on installation experience, not just inspection/testing.
• Comfortable pulling fire alarm/low-voltage cable and installing devices.
• Experience with wiring diagrams, blueprints or installation drawings.
• Familiar with NFPA 72 and addressable systems.
• NICET certification and manufacturer-specific certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial fire alarm and life-safety systems at customer sites.
• Follow project directions from the Project Manager.
• Read and follow drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and documentation.
• Pull and route low-voltage/fire-alarm cable; mount devices and panels.
• Terminate wiring and verify proper terminations at devices and panels.
• Work independently and travel to project locations within territory.

Job Description

Position OverviewInsight Global is seeking a Fire Alarm Installer to support commercial fire and life-safety installation projects. This is a contract-to-hire position supporting projects at a variety of commercial facilities, including correctional facilities. This position is best suited for someone who already understands the fundamentals of commercial fire alarm installation and can work independently in the field. The technician will receive project direction from a Project Manager and will be expected to take the necessary tools and materials to the jobsite and complete assigned installations with limited hands-on supervision.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial fire alarm and life-safety systems at customer jobsites.
• Follow project direction and scope provided by the Project Manager.
• Read and follow fire alarm drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer documentation.
• Pull and route low-voltage/fire-alarm cable.
• Mount and install fire alarm devices and equipment.
• Terminate fire alarm wiring at devices, modules and panels.
• Install devices such as:
  • Smoke detectors
  • Heat detectors
  • Pull stations
  • Horn/strobes
  • Notification appliances
  • Monitor/control modules
  • Annunciators
  • Fire alarm control panels
• Perform point-to-point wiring and verify proper terminations.
• Use hand and power tools required for commercial installation.
• Identify installation issues and communicate questions or project concerns to the Project Manager.
• Maintain organized and professional jobsites.
• Work independently after receiving project instructions.
• Travel to commercial project locations within the assigned territory.

Skills and Requirements

• 1+ year of hands-on commercial fire alarm installation experience
• Candidates need hands-on experience actually installing, not solely inspecting/testing fire alarms.
• Must be comfortable with:
• Pulling fire alarm/low-voltage cable
• Installing fire alarm devices
• Mounting devices/equipment
• Terminating wiring
• Working with fire alarm panels and field devices
• Using hand and power tools
• Following wiring diagrams, blueprints or installation drawings
• Troubleshooting basic installation/wiring issues
• Working independently on a jobsite
