Job summary

Century Fire Protection is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Installer to install, test, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings.

You will work on projects, verify functionality through testing, and document results while adhering to NFPA codes and company safety policies. A high school diploma and 1–3 years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of fire alarm installation or low voltage electrical experience preferred.
  • NICET or other fire alarm certifications preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to pursue licensure or certification as required by state or local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Install fire alarm devices, control panels, wiring, and conduit per drawings and specs.
  • Perform testing and inspections to verify functionality of newly installed systems.
  • Troubleshoot and correct installation issues under supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, NFPA 70, local codes, and project requirements.
  • Maintain organized work areas and handle tools safely.
  • Document installations, changes, and testing results.
  • Coordinate with other trades and project personnel.
  • Participate in safety meetings, follow OSHA standards, and adhere to company safety policies.
  • Support service or retrofit projects as needed.

Summary

Responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This role ensures systems are installed safely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable codes and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install fire alarm devices, control panels, wiring, and conduit according to project drawings and specifications.
  • Perform testing and inspections of newly installed systems to verify functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and correct installation issues under supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), local codes, and project requirements.
  • Maintain organized work areas and handle tools, equipment, and materials safely.
  • Document installations, changes, and testing results.
  • Assist in coordinating with other trades and project personnel.

Education and/or Experience

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces; ability to work at heights and on active construction sites; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; field-based role at commercial, industrial, and residential job sites, exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and construction environments; overtime or travel between job sites required.
