Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Alarm Drafter/CAD Designer in West Columbia, SC, to join our team on a hybrid schedule. This role focuses on initial design setup, complex system drawings, and panel/riser layouts using CAD software.

You will collaborate with the Project System Specialist to ensure accuracy, standards alignment, and timely project turnaround. The position requires an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, AutoCAD 2D proficiency, and strong Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 2 years minimum experience.
• Willingness to work in the office for training (Hybrid Role)
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Provides initial design setup for projects as assigned.
• Prepares complex system design drawings including floor plans and interconnection/installation details.
• Prepares panel configuration layouts, riser diagrams, and performs battery calculations and voltage drop calculations under guidance.
• Facilitates preparation of owner/operation manuals and record drawings using CAD software.
• Checks accuracy of own work and ensures time is properly coded to projects.
• Maintains project drawing files and documentation per policy.
• Reviews deliverables prepared by junior CAD personnel for accuracy and completeness.
