Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm and Security Service Technician to independently perform core service functions on fire alarm and security systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. This role requires diagnosing issues, performing maintenance, completing service calls with minimal supervision, and traveling to commercial, industrial, and construction sites.

Strong problem solving and the ability to read drawings are essential; NICET is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
• NICET Level I or above preferred; strong understanding of fire alarm systems and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm and security systems independently.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.
• Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
• Accurately complete service reports, documentation, and inspection records.
• Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Identify potential system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment on job sites.
• Provide guidance and support to entry-level technicians as needed.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

The Fire Alarm and Security Service Technician is a role responsible for independently performing core technical functions related to the service of fire alarm and security systems. This position is capable of completing standard service and maintenance tasks without direct supervision. The technician applies industry knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and best practices to ensure systems are operating in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Education/Qualifications:

• - If Driving Role: Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

• - Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.

• - Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
• - Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
