Description

Freeman Boatworks—recognized worldwide for quality, performance, and comfort—is seeking a skilled Finishing Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for fiberglass and gel coat repairs on hulls, decks, and small parts, helping ensure every boat meets our high standards of craftsmanship and finish.

What You’ll Do

• Inspect parts and surfaces to identify required repairs
• Repair gel coat surface defects such as scratches, voids, and surface distortion
• Use grinders, sanders, buffers, drills, and other specialty tools to complete repairs
• Mix and apply gel coat and/or resins in accordance with product specifications and safety guidelines
• Perform spot gel coat spraying as needed
• Follow all safety protocols, material handling procedures, and disposal guidelines

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience with gel coat and/or paint repair preferred
• Experience working with fiberglass or in auto body repair is a plus
• Familiarity with mixing gel coats and/or paints with activators
• Working knowledge of repair tools including sanders, buffers, and spray equipment
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular physical activity, including but not limited to:

• Climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, squatting, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Working in awkward positions or confined spaces for extended periods
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
• Exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, and occasional outdoor conditions
• Exposure to materials such as acetone, resin, fiberglass, putties, glues, and cleaners
