Summary

The Finishing Department plays a critical role in ensuring the final product meets all customer, quality, and safety standards. Operators in this department are responsible for inspecting, trimming, and preparing tires for shipment. Successful candidates must be detail‑oriented, able to perform manual labor, and committed to maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Trimming Operator: perform trimming operations to remove excess rubber and ensure proper appearance and balance of the tire.
    • Operate trimming tools/machines according to SOPs.
    • Inspect tires for excess rubber and cosmetic defects.
    • Trim tires to meet final specifications using powered tools.
    • Maintain trimming equipment and report any mechanical issues.
    • Record production data and tire status.
  • 2nd Inspection Operator: conduct visual and physical inspection of tires for defects, quality adherence, and uniformity.
    • Perform inspections using standardized procedures.
    • Use tools such as calipers, tread depth gauges, and inspection lights.
    • Reject defective tires and document non‑conformance findings.
    • Follow procedures for tagging and removing scrap or suspect tires.
    • Communicate with team and supervisors regarding abnormalities.
  • X‑ray Operator: operate X‑ray equipment to identify internal defects and ensure tire integrity.
    • Review digital imaging for belt separation, air pockets, or other internal defects.
    • Flag defective tires.
    • Adhere safety standards and PPE requirements.
  • Safety and Quality Control: wear and maintain proper PPE at all times; follow all lockout/tagout and STOP-CALL-WAIT procedures; maintain clean and organized workstations; participate in safety and quality audits as required.
  • Work Environment: high‑paced manufacturing floor with rotating machinery; extended periods of standing, walking, and lifting; exposure to extreme heat, rubber materials, and noise.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Previous experience in tire manufacturing or a related field preferred.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools and machinery.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to adhere to them strictly.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training in manufacturing or mechanical fields is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects weighing 50lbs or more.
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and pushing heavy objects.
