Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Finishing Operator, Sewing is required to perform many functions within the plant, including, but not limited to, operating a variety of equipment. The main task will be operating commercial grade sewing machines. Other tasks may include moving boxes, products and supplies; operating computerized equipment; writing and filling out forms; sorting and collating products; following instructions from supervisors; and communicating effectively with other team members throughout the plant. The Finishing Operator, Sewing will be heavily involved in the printing/finishing of orders according to customer specifications (order details). This team member also maintains the Digital and Signs and Graphics production areas and equipment.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Process and produce Digital and Signs & Graphics print/finish orders as requested and/or directed
2. Operate Digital and Signs & Graphics printers, binding and other auxiliary equipment (i.e., commercial grade sewing machine, heat press, laser cutter, etc.)
3. Perform all phases of equipment set-up, operation and routine maintenance
4. Maintain equipment and supplies, to include cleaning and repairing
5. Provide customer service, including problem solving, to satisfy those needs with a minimum amount of supervision
6. Produce work in accordance with LEAN manufacturing principles to enable Done Right, On Time quality results
7. Follow instructions of supervisors and assist other team members in performing center functions
8. Maintain work area to 5S standards (i.e., clean, safe, uncluttered)
9. All other duties as needed or required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. High School diploma / GED / trade school certification or equivalent experience
2. 2+ years of work-related experience preferred
3. Demonstrated proficiency with commercial sewing equipment
4. Prior experience in FedEx Office products & services offerings preferred
5. Commercial print and production environment experience preferred
6. Good organizational and communication skills
7. For new hires, must meet all FedEx Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring
8. For current FedEx Office team members, must meet hiring criteria for the position and transfer requirements as outlined in the Team Member Handbook

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
