Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking production team members to perform finishing operations on a variety of products. You will be involved in packaging, assembly, rework, inspection, weighing, and recording production data under supervision.

You will monitor for defects, inform the operator or coordinator as needed, and handle carton packing, labeling, and ticketing. Adherence to safety policies is required on all shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 18–30 lbs per carton.
• General arithmetic knowledge to use measuring tools.
• Ability to read rulers, scales or gauges for quality checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform finishing operations: packaging, assembly, rework, inspection, weighing and recording production.
• Monitor product for defects and notify supervisor/coordinator as needed.
• Pack cartons and unitize as assigned; initials and date box labels; complete unit tickets.

Job description

Performs finishing operations as directed and assigned on a variety of product. Such operations include packaging, assembly, rework, inspection, weighing, recording finished production. Work under direct supervision.

Packs cartons with empty plastic bottles at a standard rate.

Twists, bends and lifts every carton. This requires wrist and arm movements.

Uses simple measuring instruments such as a ruler, scale or gages to check work. General arithmetic knowledge is necessary to understand how to use these tools.

Monitors product for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/ or the coordinator.

Loads conveyors and flamers.

Practices housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.

Removes scrap from around the line.

Grind and pull plastic as needed.

Makes and unitizes cartons as assigned.

Initials and dates box labels.

Makes out unit tickets.

Does any other work as assigned by the Supervisor.

Ability to work with 18- 30 lbs. per carton.

Possibly packs 100 to 250 cartons in an 8-hour shift.

May have to lift carton off the horse onto floor.

Twists, bends and lifts every carton.

Promotes a safe working environment.

Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers.
