Job summary

Spartan Emergency Response, a part of Terex Corporation, seeks a Sand & Buff associate to polish cabs and parts to meet Spartan’s paint appearance standards. You will inspect, sand, buff, and detail components, ensuring quality before shipment.

The role requires teamwork, strong attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols in a manufacturing setting. Responsibilities include reading detailed instructions, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting production goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Excellent attendance and a positive attitude are expected.
• Good attention to detail and ability to stay on task.
• Body and paint experience is preferred.
• Able to operate DA sander and air polisher for extended periods.
• Able to tolerate high heat and dusty conditions; overtime may be required.
• Willing to wear PPE respirators and pursue training when needed.
• Develop knowledge of Spartan’s systems (AS/400) and processes.

Summary

The Sand & Buff position is responsible for the polishing cabs, parts, and other products to ensure compliance with Spartan’s Paint Appearance Requirement for emergency response cabs and bodies.

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect the cab/body, parts, and/or other products for defects
• Remove dirt and/ or runs using supplied tools
• Sand and buff the cab/body, parts, and / or other products using supplied tools to ensure compliance with Spartan’s Paint Appearance Requirement
• Detail cab/body prior to it leaving work center
• Work in a team enviroment
• Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area
• Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required by a particular area
• Understand, and be able to articulate, the production flow of an assigned product line or area
• Self-check work and inspect prior processes
• Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
• Meet production goals
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Initiate process improvements
• Support 5S in work area
• Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
• Work in close proximity with customer, as needed
• Solve complex problems with minimal assistance

  • Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
  • Develop a working knowledge of Spartan’s systems (example: AS/400)
