Job summary

Duncan Aviation in Provo, UT is seeking a Finish Specialist I–III to perform finishing preparation, application and polishing of parts, plus minor repairs, in a safe, clean, organized area. The role supports training of less experienced technicians and follows Duncan Aviation procedures and customer expectations.

Essential duties include preparing surfaces for paint, applying finishes, and performing detail work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; Respirator Fit qualified
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Able to lift 50 lbs., up to 100 lbs.; tolerates standing, bending, kneeling and other motions
  • Environmental: Tolerates extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Responsibilities

  • With minimal supervision, prepares cabinet surfaces and substrates for paint or finish according to Duncan Aviation procedures.
  • Applies stains, dyes, paints or finishes to prepared parts; mixes paint and stains as needed.
  • Performs basic detail work, polish and clean-up on finished items.
  • Performs structural and decorative repairs as required.
  • Researches, prepares, and signs off documents for record keeping per FAA regulations and Duncan Aviation procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job description

The Finish Specialist, with minimal supervision, performs finishing preparation, application and polishing of parts and minor repair and touch-up work in a safe, clean and organized work area according to customer expectations and Duncan Aviation approved procedures. Essential Job Functions
  • 1. With minimal supervision, prepares cabinet surfaces and substrates for paint or finish and miscellaneous plastic, metal and leather parts for paint or dye to customer satisfaction and Duncan Aviation approved procedures using appropriate equipment.
  • 2. With minimal supervision, applies stains, dyes, paints or finishes to prepared parts. Mixes paint and stains as needed.
  • 3. With minimal supervision, performs basic detail work, polish and clean-up on finished items.
  • 4. With minimal supervision, performs structural and decorative repairs as required.
  • 5. With minimal supervision researches, prepares, and signs off various documents for record keeping purposes as required by Duncan Aviation approved procedures, manufacturers' maintenance manuals, and FAA regulations (i.e. turnovers, removal sheets, flammability testing, W.O. Sheets, personal training log, FAA 8110-3 & FAA 337's, and other work order related documents supporting the review of squawks and expected hours).
  • 6. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Physical: Routinely lifts 50 lbs., occasionally 100 lbs.; reads small print; identifies small finish imperfections; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates working in confined spaces; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments
Education and Experience
Finish Specialist I:
  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum one year related experience required
Finish Specialist II:
  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum two years related experience required
  • Minimum two years aviation finish experience preferred
Finish Specialist III:
  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum four years related experience required
  • Minimum three years aviation finish experience preferred
